Have a Healthy Christmas! How to Avoid Overeating and Gaining Weight during the Holidays
The holiday season is great because we celebrate together, feast and exchange gifts. Also, we can eat a lot during the holidays.
You may unconsciously link this period with eating sweets, bakery delights, and other fattening foods. Is it possible to avoid overeating and gaining a few pounds during this period?
How to do that?
Eat before going to holiday parties
Some people advice eating healthy first, even if eating unhealthy after that. Sure, you don’t need to eat if you’re not hungry, but in case you are have a little start with some raw vegetable like celery stick, carrots, cucumber, and salad.
Eat regularly
If you have eaten too much, you can have leek soup with very little potato. It is better not to skip meals because fasting will keep you stuck in the diet-binge-diet cycle and make you gain more weight.
Have two squares of very dark chocolate before dessert
Dark chocolate can reduce your appetite. Don’t have it at the beginning of the party because it will leave you hungry 3-4 hours later. If chocolate is your addiction, eat three unpeeled almonds instead.
Have a little of everything
Do this during parties. If not, you’ll feel frustrated and end up eating too much.
Also, try to consume normal portions. Eating small portions will make you eat more because it doesn’t seem very satisfying to your brain.
Don’t consume a lot of grains, alcohol, sugar, fruit juices and dried or cooked fruit
Choose turkey, avoid the pastries, and lower the amount of alcohol drinks.
Drink organic apple cider vinegar water
Mix not more than one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with a glass of water. Drink the mixture before going to parties and before going to bed. It will increase detoxification and boost digestion. You can use it frequently for twenty-one days after the holiday season in order to cleanse your bowels. You need to drink a glass of water once or twice every hour for eight hours.
Drink plenty of water
Drinking plenty of water can help you have a flat belly, particularly if you drink organic apple cider vinegar too. Our body needs to be fully hydrated. Also, you need to know that alcohol, sugar, coffee, and starchy foods leak minerals and water out of your body. So, drink 1-2 glasses of water every hour in between meals.
Try not to drink water during meals because it will make it harder for the stomach to digest food.
